Game Context
Keys to the game:
Similar to the Jr Coyotes game.
Execution Analysis:
Our offense ran better than the game before but at times there was still not enough motion. There were times in this game that I should have kept driving or taken the shot.
6:03 (North Shore)Three things that went well
1. Our team defense was good and could make up for mistakes of individuals in the North Shore Game, but not as well in the Thrive game, and this cost us the win.
2. I’m continuing to have success with hitting the high post with my paint touches and making good plays, but I didn’t drive to the paint as much in these games.
4:56 (North Shore)A good off-ball paint touch here in the Thrive game.
3:18 (Thrive)3. My ball handling wasn’t very confident but this sequence did end well where I passed to my teammate for a wide open three. I had 2 players guarding me at this point, which shows I’m capable of attracting gravity, and this is something I think I need to learn how to better exploit.
5:22 (Thrive)Shows a good cut by my teammate and good vision by myself to get him the ball for a good scoring opportunity.
6:14 (Thrive)Three things that didn't go well
1. I wasn’t keeping my man in front of me consistently, and I was giving up too much dribble penetration.
2. Jumping too much on defense/while rebounding. I need to work on how to anticipate the rebound. Wasn’t happy with my ability to box out. It looked like I was not paying attention to the ball at times.
3. On-ball responsibility in Thrive game. Gave ball up too quickly instead of staying patient, protecting it, and trying to get into the paint.
Costly turnover
9:16 (Thrive)I often find myself open but not attracting the attention of my teammate. Wondering if I need to change anything about how I communicate to them in these instances.
7:34 (Thrive)An example of a shot I think I should have taken but would like your impression (I drove instead and did get 2 points).
8:08 (Thrive)Removed from the game after this turnover.
9:52 (Thrive)Three burning questions
Just wanting help in general with my decision making process, especially with when to keep the ball versus pass. I think I’m over-passing at times. I was taught at Basketball BC to make a quick decision - drive, pass or shoot within half a second. My default is to pick up my dribble and pass.
